Marwick) Consulting - Senior Director. Developed and managed major
consulting assignments, including M&A, major corporate restructuring and
information technology management. Supported major overhaul of the information
systems and networks of several clients, strategic acquisition targeting and
planning, and the conversion of an insurance company from a mutual to a
corporate enterprise. Participated in
the development of Nationwide Insurance Company’s M&A process, complete
with tools, procedures, forms, and methods for acquisitions, including training
and executive seminars. Developed a
KPMG IT Centric, M&A framework covering the life cycle of an acquisition,
merger, or divestiture.
Cap Gemini America, Inc. — Director responsible for the management of engagements to ensure profitability and strategic development. Participated in the development of the service offering for large scale transformations. Managed major client assignments, obtained follow-on business. Directed the most profitable Y2K/Euro Program for Rosenbluth International (second largest travel agency in the world), assisted in the development of Prudential’s Demutialization Plan, valued at $500 million.
Bantam, Doubleday, Dell Publishing Group Inc. — Sr. Vice President and COO. Developed the plan to consolidate, and integrate Bertelsmann, Inc.’s New York holdings; Bantam, Doubleday, Dell Publishing Group, Inc. and Bertelsmann Music Group - RCA into a newly acquired building. Project valued at $1 billion, with savings of $196 million.
Developed the strategic plan and executed the successful integration of Bantam, Doubleday, Dell Publishing Group, Inc., encompassing publishing entities in excess of $1 billion, meeting all profit, schedule, and budget objectives. Eliminated over $40 million in costs (people, facilities, equipment) closed and sold three Doubleday distribution facilities, consolidated three New York office locations into one. Converted systems to the Bantam, Doubleday, Dell cluster. Moved 100 million books into a combined facility, with no interruption in services. Met sales unit budget the first year, and propelled Bantam, Doubleday, Dell into the number one position in fulfillment.
Citibank, N.A. — Corporate Vice President, Advanced Technology. Led Citibank’s Advanced Technology Group responsible for today’s ATM machines. Developed and installed an on-line Project Monitoring Process controlling $100 million in systems development. Established and managed corporate control and interface with all Citibank groups for the technology management functions. Developed MIS strategies for all Citibank groups.
Xerox Corporation — Corporate Vice President, Logistics/Systems. Major project responsibilities included cost improvement savings in excess of $40 million.
Designed and implemented a total Distribution Network Strategy, Parts Forecasting/Planning System, Inventory Echelon Stocking Model, and communication Network for 30 thousand technical representatives controlling 750,000 locations still in use today. Improving customer service to 97%, reducing inventory by over $80 million, and optimizing transportation/facilities expense. Established a multi-national systems group responsible for design and implementation of all systems (systems design effort $30 million).
Booz-Allen & Hamilton — Associate, Computer Systems Division. Job management of several MIS assignments in which he developed the conceptual systems approach, planning and hardware requirements for varied industries, and directed all BA&H consultants and support specialists including client EDP staff personnel through detailed systems design, programming, and implementation of integrated systems resulting in assignments valued at $5 million with economic benefit potentials of $2.4 million on each assignment.
Designed, directed, and implemented several large MIS systems that were installed based upon his conceptual systems design, encompassing several million dollar facilities, converting hardware including data transmission. Acted as MIS Director for clients, chaired all meetings, and obtained projected $1.4 million annual savings in large companies. Developed EDP Standards Manuals and Project Control Techniques.
Olivetti Corporation Of America — Vice President, Operations (COO). Designed, directed, and implemented total Corporate Management Information System controlled by PERT, embracing all corporate divisions, resulting in large scale savings and increased control. Developed, staffed, and directed a large EDP facility, installed an integrated Cost, Production, Inventory Control System supporting a one million square foot manufacturing facility, commended by all levels of management, general industry, and IBM Corporation. Reduced a 350 man Production Control Department to 120, yet increased control. Responsible for the successful move of the Harrisburg manufacturing, assembly, and office operations into new $30 million facility. Designed, developed, staffed and installed large 360 facility with system completely controlling finances, standard cost, manufacturing, and assembly operations.
